EnvyDerm Volume Mascara Review & Giveaway(CLOSED)

I have tried a few lash growth products and while I thought they did a great job at conditioning my lashes and making them feel healthier, I never really noticed a difference. So, when my sample of EnvyDerm Mascara came I wasn't really expecting results that were any different from the results I was getting from other products. Well, I am really impressed I have been using it for two weeks and I have noticed quite a difference. My lashes are not only longer but thicker! Its amazing! I haven't even been using it everyday for these past two weeks so I can only imagine the growth I would have if I was using it more consistently. My only complaint is that while it doesn't flake or clump it also never fully dries on your lashes which for me is somewhat of a problem because I have watery eyes. So, EnvyDerm if your reading this I would love for you to release a waterproof mascara. ;) This is such a great product for lash growth and you don't even need a prescription! It retails for $36.00 which is pretty steep for a mascara but the results are worth it and the tube is much bigger than an average size mascara. I also want to mention that the way the wand is designed you while see immediate results. It is designed to separate lashes which gives them the appearance of more volume. EnvyDerm is formulated with all natural ingredients and never tested on animal. Here is what EnvyDerm says about their mascara:
This is my after. I forgot to take a before:( So much fuller and longer. Yippee!

Costumes Discounters Review

Oh Halloween, my absolute favorite holiday. I absolutely love everything about it. The colors, the pumpkins, the weather and of course the costumes. What I don't love about Halloween...the obscene price of poorly made costumes I was getting from our local party store. I hate spending so much money on costumes that have uneven seams, hanging strings, and just poor quality all together.  Before I found Costume Discounter I was seriously stressed out about the price of costumes. Well, guess what? We found officially licensed Transformers costumes for only $29.97 licensed by both Hasbro and Paramount. We spent a good deal of time(longer than I wanted to) deciding whether Chase was going to be Optimus Prime or Bumblebee, and by we I mean Chase did and I tried to help him make up his mind. LOL. In the end he finally chose Optimus Prime. It took about a week to get here, and oh was Chase excited when it arrived. He wanted to try it on right away, and it has been a pain to keep him out of it. I love the stuffed muscles, they are so cute and he loves it. I also spotted a lot of costumes that I would love, and with great prices I think Mommy is going to dress up this year too, and now I am in Chase's position spending a lot of time trying to narrow down a costume from the huge selection Costumes Discounters has. I definitely suggest checking out http://www.costumediscounters.com/. I am so impressed.

*I was sent this costume for review purposes from Costume Discounters. I was not paid for this review. All opinions are my own.*

Eureka! Move over candles! Meet My New Obsession.

Scentsy! As you may by now already know I have been on the hunt for good quality candles that don't break the bank. Well, I will search no more because the answer is Scentsy. No, it's not a candle. It's better. Scentsy uses non-toxic food based wax, that is made to melt at a low temperature in their warmers that use low wattage bulbs. They never get hot enough to burn. I like this because I have a 2 year old running around. While he has little chance to actually ever be able to reach the warmer anyway, this still gives me peace of mind. Should he ever actually make it that far it is non-toxic and it will not burn.
I have been sitting here staring at my laptop screen for quite sometime, I really want to get across to you all how amazing this product is. I have always been one to have candles burning pretty much all day everyday. I just love the way they smell. That being said I have spent a pretty penny on candles that burn quickly and lose their scent just as fast. Scentsy's bars are only $5.00 and if you really love a scent you can buy a massive brick for $20.00.  The bars last between 60 to 80+ hours. With my mid-size warmer and 2 cubes from a bar my whole house smells amazing! I am truly in love with Scentsy. The first day I got my scentsy warmer and three bars, I loved it so much that very night, I bought three more bars! Frankly, as I write I would like to buy more. I seriously want to try every scent, and there are over 80 of them! Not to mention the fact that shipping is inexpensive and fast. For me the only downfall has been trying to decide which scent to use.
Scentsy doesn't just sell warmers, bars and bricks, they also have Scentsy Room Sprays, Travel Tins, Fragrance Foam(hand sanitizer), Scentpaks, Scent Circles(car fresheners) and Scentsy Buddies. New to their collection are solid perfumes. I was sent the Love Story solid perfume. It smells amazing and to my surprise lasts all day. It reminds me of two of my favorite body mists put together. The top note that I smell the most in it is amber. With softer notes of Jasmine and dark chocolate. Sounds amazing? It smells amazing. I am truly impressed with Scentsy as a whole. Everything I have tried, I have loved.
My first experience with actual Scentsy consultants was not the greatest. The consultants in my area never got back to me with questions I had about the product, but with a little research I found Krystal. She is great. She actually has her own Youtube channel StinkPrettyTV. Her enthusiasm and love for Scentsy really shows through. Not only, that but she goes above and beyond for her customers. She is located in Alaska but she will send you products and samples to have your own basket party at your home or work. Did I mention she will send the supplies for your basket party on her dime? Hosting parties is a great way to earn free products too. The big thing that I want to add about Krystal is that for every party booked from now till Spring she is going to donate a Sasha bear to Providence Child Life Center. Which is not only helping the children at her local hospital but all proceeds from the purchase of the Sasha Scentsy bear go to Ronald McDonald House Charities. This is great. What do you think, Should we have an online party? Oh yeah, and she absolutely does and will get back to you with all questions! I know in my excitement I have probably forgotten some things. You can find her on Facebook; Solstice Scents  (When Krystal reaches 100 followers she will be having a giveaway! Tell her Kristy sent you.)  on Twitter; @SolsticeScents and of course her online store SolsticeScents Oh Yeah, check out the close out section of Krystal's page there are really good deals on warmers. They even have holiday warmers on sale!
Please watch the video below, and don't forget to check out Krystal's video's too. You won't regret it.

Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer

I did a very quick review on this with my September Birchbox. I'm so glad that I got the sample and didn't  buy the full size product. It is touted as a conditioning, and lip plumping gloss. It has Shea Butter, Vitamin E, and Jojoba Oil. I do find the Jouer Lip treatment, to be conditioning, so it does deliver on that promise. What it didn't deliver on was the lip enhancement. My lips felt like I had just been given a shot of Novacane, but with no actual plumping. For 14 dollars I say, save your money and purchase a regular conditioning lip balm for much cheaper with the same results(I love Burt's Bees). Oh, and can I just say that I felt it was very telling in Birchbox's Youtube video that one of the girls confessed to having the same Jouer Lip Enhancer in her purse for a year. If it was as good as she claimed wouldn't she have used it up by now? Just Sayin'.....

Semptember Birchbox

I received my September Birchbox yesterday. This month Birchbox is celebrating its 1st Birthday or 1 year anniversary. Their card states that this months box is filled with their favorite products, that represent every aspect of the Birchbox personality. Frankly, I'm disappointed and I really miss my Eco Emi. I don't feel like Birchbox gives you your money's worth.

In my Box this month:
  • Adventurous Incoco| Nail Polish Applique 16 strips| $7.99-$10.99 (I like these, but they are no different then their cousins from Sally Hansen that are easier to find
  •   Polished Jouer| Lip Enhancer .33 fl. oz. $14 (felt like my lips had been shot up with Novocaine with little enhancement)
  • Prepared Jurlique| Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer 5.9 fl. oz| $15 ( good and somewhat moisturizing but I'm happy with my 99cent Dial Hand Sanitizer for now)
  • Eco Minded LIV GRN| Natural Eau De Parfum 3.4 fl. oz| $60 ( I love this parfum it smells amazing!)
  • Treat Birchbox Friendship Bracelet (cute)

Sunglass Warehouse Review & Giveaway!! (Closed)

If your like me and live in a place where even though Fall is days away you still have a few months of sunshine, or like me you wear sunglasses pretty much every time you leave the house no matter what the weather is like. Then you should check out the deals at Sunglass Warehouse.  There are no glasses over $20! Which has allowed me to expand my sunglass collection. They also offer free shipping for orders over $25. If you don't exceed that in your purchase don't fret because shipping is only $2.95. Which is great because there have been many times with other companies that I thought I was getting a great deal until I made it to the shipping price and changed my mind. LOL.  You might be thinking well if there sunglasses are so inexpensive they must not be that great of quality. I'm here to tell ya' they are great quality and they meet FDA requirements impact resistance and the strictest UV blocking requirements.
Sunglass Warehouse also offers a large selection of Kid's Sport Sunglasses starting at $8, and judging by Chase's excitement over mine I'm thinking at that price its time to get him is own. Worried about not being able to try on the sunglasses before you buy them? Sunglass Warehouse has got you covered with articles like Choosing Sunglasses for Face Shape and How to Choose Sunglass Frames for Your Skin Tone. Awesome Right? They have so many styles to choose from Celebrity Sunglasses, Polorized Sunglasses, my personal favorite Retro Sunglasses and so many more.
Too cute not to share!
Wanna know what the really awesome thing is? Sunglass Warehouse is giving a Kristy's Place Reviews reader a $20 Gift Certificate to purchase their own sunglasses!! WooHoo!

Check out Sunglass Warehouse here http://www.sunglasswarehouse.com/

Hi All,

Do You Know What The Shelf Life of Your Makeup Is?

I think we all know by now that makeup does expire, but most of us aren't really sure when that is. Did you know that most makeup these days actually tells you on the back how long it is good for? Let's go through low long each product is good for.

  • Mascara= 3 to 6 months
  • Cream Foundation= 12 months
  • Oil Free Foundation=12 months
  • Blush/Bronzer= 18 to 24 months
  • Powders= 18 to 24 months
  • Cream Blush= 6 to 12months
  • Lipstick= 12 months
  • Lipgloss= 12 months
  • Lipliner= 12 months
  • Eyeliner= 12 to 18months
  • Liquid Eyeliner= 6 months
  • Eyeshadow= 12 to 18 months
  • Nail Polish= 2to 3 Years (oops I'm guilty of 5+ years)
Now I'll show you what to look for when searching how long a particular product should be used. Flip your makeup over and look for the little picture of a container with an open lid. This symbol will tell you how long your product can be used once it has been exposed to air.You can find this little symbol on most products these days including lotions and certain hair care products. It's not always there so you should follow the common guidelines.

I hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by and reading. If you aren't already I would love for you to become a Follower of Kristy's Place Reviews.

Influenster Naturals Voxbox Opening!

So, a while ago I posted a list of websites where I get freebies. The best ones require a little bit of work but they are well worth it and so much fun. My favorites are BzzAgent and Influenster. With both these websites you take surveys and write reviews in order to get to a higher level where you can receive products to try and review. I have done several reviews for companies through BzzAgent but this is my first Influenster Voxbox! Yay! It was a long night we had our first storm in a long while with very loud thunder that kept us all up. So I had a very fussy toddler today and this was just what the doctor ordered. To become an Influenster and earn Voxboxes too head to their website. http://www.influenster.com/

Walk the Line from Hard Candy Review

This is my new go to Eyeliner. I have been using a felt eyeliner for years now and would still be using it had Hard Candy not sent their Walk the Line 24 Hour Lash Growth liquid eyeliner.  I am so thoroughly impressed with the smooth precise lines that I am able to create with the tiny brush end of this eyeliner.  Not only that but I have a problem with my lash line touching my crease and over the day finding that my eyeliner has worn off and into the crease of my eye. I didn't have that problem with this eyeliner, it stayed put all day. It is advertised as a lash growth product, but I haven't noticed any growth in the week that  I have been using it. I have noticed that my lashes feel more conditioned, so maybe over time it will help in protecting my lashes and keeping them from falling out so much. This doesn't bother me at all though. So what,  I didn't notice growth in 24 hours. It stayed on all day without smudging over time or fading, and gave me the most beautiful precise cat eye with the greatest amount of ease. Along with the Eyeliner there is a tube of clear serum to put on after you take you makeup off to continue with the lash growth.  On top of all that its only $7 bucks. Score! You can find Hard Candy at your local Walmart, and if its not in stock there you can always order from Walmart.com and get free shipping to your home with no minimum purchase.

The Balm Review

A company that truly lives up to its name. You know (Bomb).  I'm very impressed with the products I picked out to review.  I'm a huge lover of matte cosmetics, so when I found that The Balm has an entire eyeshadow Palette devoted to matte colors I was over the moon. That was points enough.  The colors in their Meet Matt(e) palette are great, and as with any high quality eyeshadow only requires the smallest amount on your brush to get a great wash of color on your lids. I have used this palette everyday since it arrived. If you are a regular reader of my blog you will already know that I do not like spending a lot on makeup, but I do make exceptions or splurges when a product is worth it. This my friends is one of those products.
Meet Matt(e) $34.50 Photo credit: TheBalm.com
Primer $30.00 Photo Credit: TheBalm.com

I also chose their Time Balm Primer. I chose this because I had yet to find a primer that worked with my oily skin and didn't cause breakouts. The Balm's primer was finally a success. It did a great job at mattifying  my oily skin, and only required the smallest amount for my whole face. I use less than a pea size amount everyday.
Lastly, I chose The Balm's Time Balm cream foundation. I racked my brain and can't remember ever using a cream foundation, so I have nothing to compare it to. All I can say is I really like this foundation. It is versatile in that it can be as sheer or as full coverage as you like. It also works well as a concealer. I love that I can easily take the little compact with me and fully touch up my makeup anywhere. Love that.
The Balm has a lot of other products that I would really like to try, especially their cleansers and masks. So head on over to The Balm's website and check out these bomb products. www.thebalm.com

Flat Iron Experts/Corioliss Pro V Red Leopard Flat Iron Review

I received the Corioliss Pro V Red Leopard Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron from Flat Iron Experts to review, and let me tell you I am so glad I did. I have been trying for many years to use a flat iron to curl my hair like so many other women do, with zero success. Unless you count a flip at the ends a curl. I even bought Conair's Infiniti You Style. You know the one that is supposed to be a flat iron and curling iron in one? Yeah, it totally didn't work and when it first came out it was expensive for a lower end flat iron. So that was disappointing. When Fedex delivered my Corioliss I couldn't wait to use it, and plugged it in right away. I'm sure you can tell where this is going but it did indeed very easily curl my hair into my desired messy curls that I have been longing for, for years. Sweet success! I have been playing around with it for a few days now, learning how to get tighter curls and long waves, and of course it very easily makes my already straight hair completely pin straight. The tourmaline ceramic plates allow my hair to easily glide right through the iron with no tangling or pulling.  The Corioliss offers adjustable temperatures from 140 to 410. This baby gets HOT! I am super impressed. I will never use a non pro iron again. Wow! The Corioliss Pro V Leopard Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron retails for $249.99 and whenever you spend $50 or over Flat Iron Experts offers free shipping.
Here is what Flat Iron Expert's website says about the Corioliss Pro V Leopard Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron
  • 100% Tourmaline Ceramic plates for healthier hair and a high gloss shine
  • Adjustable temperature from 140 to 410°F for easy use
  • Fast Heats up in less than 6 seconds
  • Straighten, flip or curl your hair
  • The innovative PTC ceramic heater heats up in a flash, and stays at the temperature while styling
  • Ionic heat leaves even damaged hair more sleek and color-protected
  • Far Infrared (FIR) technology locks in moisture and natural oils
  • Sleek, ergonomic, non-slip grip designed for professional comfort
  • Professional 360° swivel cord to prevent tangling
  • Nano silver technology – style and clean your hair at the same time!
  • Dual Voltage from 110/120 to 220/240 can be used anywhere
  • Made in Korea
  • One year limited warranty
I also received the KQC Thermal Shine Spray. Before I received this I was using Redkens Shine Flash02 which is only a shine spray, so along with that I was using a heat protector. With the  KQC Thermal Shine Spray I only need the one product. I gives my hair great healthy looking shine as well as protecting is from the heat of my styling products. At $18.99 it is also cheaper than my old Redken Shine Flash alone.
Flat Iron Experts don't just sell flat irons they offer a wide range of curling irons, blow dryers, styling products, hair care and accessories in all price ranges. Go check em' out Flat Iron Experts.

Hard Candy World Balmination in Lovestruck

Credit: Hard Candy
World Balmination is a new lip balm from Hard Candy. Generally I am not a big fan of Balms. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this one though. It actually offers a pop of sheer color. I was sent lovestruck which is a creamy pale pink, and actually showed up as such on my lips, along with a glossier look then you normally get from a balm. It's nice and creamy without being oily, waxy or sticky. It smells and tastes like lemon cake. Yummy!  Hard Candy's World Balmination lip balms come is a wide variety of colors.  Just perfect and only $3.00 at Walmart.

*Hard Candy sent me World Balmination for free to review. All opinions are 100% my own. I was not paid for this review.*

Slatkin & Co. Candle in Autumn

I recently made a trip to Bath & Body Works. I had not been in to purchase candles but being a candle lover I couldn't resist these tiny little 1.6oz Slatkin & Co candle samples they were selling 3 for $5. Most were already gone but I found a couple that I thought smelt great and were worth trying. I was tempted to purchase a larger candle but was put off by the price and since I had never actually purchased a Slatkin & Co I thought the samples would be best. I have found a new favorite scent in their Autumn scent. It smells amazing. Exactly like Autumn smells in my mind, and Autumn/Fall happens to be my favorite time of year! I had this little candle lit in my room and you could smell it in my living room. That being said I wouldn't say that its a strong scent. It's a light scent, but the scent throw in amazing. The description on the sample reads, "A crisp fall fragrance that blends dark pomegranate with red delicious apple and juicy fig, with notes of fir balsam and rich cedarwood." I don't know that I'll buy this in full size as I have candles lit constantly and I felt that it burnt down a little faster than I'd like as well as being on the pricier side for the rate that I go through candles.  I found this candle to be great for the average candle user. They retail for $19.50 for 14.5oz.  So, I love the scent but my hunt for a candle that smells amazing, has a long burn time and a affordable price continues......
