Cravebox Summer Beauty Limited Edition Box 2012

 I being the monthly sample subscription junkie that I am, had of course heard of Cravebox but never subscribed because the products being featured never really peeked my interest. When I saw that they were releasing a Limited Edition Summer Beauty Cravebox, I signed up just for that box.  While I definitely think you get your money's worth, Cravebox's Summer Beauty box completely missed the mark for me. All but one of the products (Puristics Eye Cream) in my personal opinion aren't what comes to mind when I think of beauty products.

Glossybox June 2012

  It's Glossybox time! Whoohoo! Alright, so that's how I felt before I looked into June's Glossybox. Just like last months box June's box didn't come till July. According to the Glossybox US Facebook page they will be shipping July's boxes the third week in July and not the fourth. Since shipping seems to take an incredibly long time, I'm not all together sure that shipping the third week of the month is going to remedy the issue.

 While the products in June's box are all "luxury" brands, they just aren't my cup of tea. With the exception of the cream eyeshadow in black, everything else in the box was hair and body care. Getting mostly hair care and body products is the reason I've canceled every other subscription. I prefer more cosmetics and perfume.

 June's box paid for itself and then some, but it just wasn't for me. Not crazy at all about this box.  Along with shipping issues, I was charged tax this month when I wasn't charged for it the first month. Bringing my total up to $23 and some change rather than the $21 that's advertised. According to Glossybox they have two offices and this month I happened to get service from the CA office and was charged the CA sales tax. IDK. Their response to this payment issue has been confusing. It's only a couple bucks but not everyone gets charged the tax depending on what office handles their subscription. Apparently I wasn't the only customer who found this odd. Since it is still a new company I will give them a pass as they work out all the kinks.

Beautybox5 May 2012 Review

 Beautybox5 is the latest in my quest to try every beauty sampling service I can get my greedy little hands on.  I think personally that not all the boxes are going to please everyone. They all have something different to offer and you have to give several a try to find the right fit.

I love it when a subscription service gives you what you paid for and then some. Which is definitely what Beautybox5 has done with their May box. I’m very happy with the items I received and love that these are all brands that I have never used, which is the whole purpose of a sampling service right? One thing I would have liked to see is some makeup in the box.  BeautyBox5 seems to have delivered on exactly what their website says they provide, “4 - 5 samples of your favorite beauty brands. From makeup and fragrances to skin care and hair care”.  I like this; it’s refreshing from a monthly beauty sampling service.

This product is great. I found that it really did help with uncomfortable rubbing and helped to soothe the irritation that developed before I was able to put on some Lady Anti Monkey Butt.  I also turned my brother on to the regular Anti Monkey Butt powder. He works outdoors all summer and his uniform is canvas material. For the past three years he has gotten a nasty rash all over his legs every summer when it starts to get hot.  I went out and purchase the Original for him and he has noticed a huge difference and the rash is starting to go away.  So if you suffer from chafing, or rashes from sweating in the heat, I would recommend checking out Anti Monkey Butt. Ageless is a really great scent. I have been wearing it for about a week now and I love it. It smells fresh and perfect for Spring. When you first spray it you immediately smell the pink grapefruit and other fruity and floral scents in it. What I love the most are the dry notes that stick around longer. After an hour of wear I really start getting to the dry notes of warm vanilla, and soft musk still with a hint of the florals. I have gotten so many compliments on how good I smell. While I can't speak for the anti-age part of this perfume, I can tell you it smells amazing.

Philips SatinPerfect Epilator Review

I'm a BzzAgent and as a member of their community I get to try out some really awesome products. The latest is the Philips SatinPerfect Epilator. Previous to receiving the epilator I had never used one before, so I really didn't know what to expect. I have tried waxing at home before with poor results. So like millions of woman I continued to shave ev-ver-ry-day. I have always hated shaving and have to admit that there have been times when I have just given up. Yep, that's right. I've been a Yetti before. (Don't judge me) I have sensitive skin so shaving no matter how much I exfoliate or use special creams or gels I always get razor burn. So, it has been. I kid you not....Years since I've worn shorts. I was always embarrassed of the red marks on my legs.

  When the Philips SatinPerfect Epilator arrived I couldn't wait to try it. I used it for the first time the next day. I'm not gonna lie, it was excruciating! Frankly, I'm surprised the neighbors didn't phone the police. I literally screamed a few times. Especially around my ankles and behind my knees. I continued and finished my legs. I'm so glad that I did. While I had redness that lasted a few hours, it did go away. That first time I had some hairs that were left behind so it wasn't perfect. I re-read the manual and tried again a week later. The second time around it was way less painful and I managed to get perfectly smooth legs. Love This! Each time I use it, it hurts less and less. I barely feel any pain now. I do use it every Sunday, as I find that I have re-growth by then. Yetti anyone? Haha. I have tried my underarms and have to say that I didn't finish as I personally found it unbearable. The manual says that you can use it everywhere below your neck. I'll make it to other places...maybe. The underarms hurt so bad I'm scared to try my bikini area. All and all I love it for my legs. It's fab, and I can't wait to get into some shorts this year.

 The awesome part? If the Epilator head is too much for you it comes with an excellent shaving head that gets you just as smooth, but since it doesn't pull out the hairs the way the epilator does you will get re-growth much quicker. I forgot to mention in the above paragraph that it comes with four head attachments.  Two for epilating and two for the shaver. Oh and I must not forget the tweezers that were included. The tweezers come in a case that looks like a lipstick and have an LED light attached that makes it really easy to find all the hairs. That being said while I was really impressed by the LED light I found that the tweezers themselves were horrible at grasping hairs. Bummer, but the Epilator itself is were it's at.

Golden Earth Review & Giveaway

I'm pretty sure I've said this several times and I'll probably say it several more times because it is so true. I love sample services because they introduce me to companies and products that I may not otherwise have known about. One such company is Golden Earth. Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes Review & Giveaway!!

So, a little over a week ago I received a Target Beauty Bag in the mail. One of the things in the bag was a 5 towelette sample of Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes in Evening Soothe. I tend to alternate between baby wipes and different brands of makeup removing wipes. I always use some kind of wipe to remove most of my makeup before I wash my face. On most nights I end up using two of whatever wipe I happen to be using that night. Well imagine my surprise when I decide to use my sample of Pond's Cleansing Towelettes Evening Calm, and I only needed one towelette and my face was so clean! SCENTsational Soaps Review

 I have been a fan of SCENTsational Soaps creator Sarah and her son Chad's Youtube videos for quite sometime. I just love watching Sarah talk about her soaps. She really takes pride in her soaps and takes care to research all her ingredients and common skin ailments. She is very knowledgeable about ingredients in  her soaps and what skin issues they can help with. Not only that but she takes the time to answer your questions.

  For three years I have been on the hunt for soaps and lotions that helped heal and soothe my son's eczema. It has been an uphill battle. No matter what I tried or what his pediatrician recommended or prescribed there was always something wrong with everything I tried. I can't even tell you how much money I've spent in the process of trying to find products that work. While there have been one or two products that were effective they were expensive and I just couldn't afford them. I was watching one of Sarah and Chad's Youtube video's about their Propolis Soap, and I just knew I had to try it on my son's eczema. 

  Sarah from SCENTsational soaps was kind enough to send me a bar of her Propolis Soap $6, Propolis Cool Mint Body Butter $10, the Propolis Healing Salve $12 and many samples. The Propolis products are amazing. They have done what I was starting to think was impossible. I have been using the Propolis products for my son's eczema for about two weeks now and the difference it has made is truly amazing. His rashes are barely visible, no longer red, and he's not itching. I love the Propolis Cool Mint Body Butter, it is the only lotion that I've used for my son that he hasn't told me stings his skin. That is such a relief, not only is it working but it's not causing my little guy discomfort when its applied. This lotion is thick, but doesn't leave that sticky feeling you sometimes get with body butters, and I need only a small amount on my son's entire body. The recent change in weather has caused him to be a little dry so the salve has come in handy on patches of dry skin. The Propolis products are part of SCENTsational Soaps HoneyBee line. 

  Sarah sent me soooo many samples of her other soaps. Since I was sent so many sample I haven't gotten to use all of them so I will go through the ones that I have used. 

  The first soap that I used is one of the Goat's Milk Soaps Believe in Lavender scent. I picked it out first because it smell just like lavender. Not like Lavender soap, but like you are literally outside and you just put your nose to a lavender flower. It smell so good. I have been using it has a hand soap in my bathroom and I love it. It lathers very well into a creamy lather. Believe also comes in Blueberry scented. Other than its amazing smell and great moisturizing properties $1 of each bar sold goes to IDEAS Research which supports the research of Chromosome 15q Duplication Syndrome. The Believe soaps are $5.

  The next soap I tried loved and have used up was a sample of the Lime Margarita Whipped Parfait Soap. This soap is another really authentic smelling soap. It smells just like...you guessed it a lime margarita. The whipped soap was so rich and lathered to well. I love it. As with SCENTsational Soaps body butter, when using the whipped parfait soap i only needed the smallest amount of product to create a rich lather and wash my entire body. I literally just dipped my finger into the jar and got a tiny amount out everyday. The little sample jar lasted me 8 days. The whipped soaps come in a large variety of scents. Next up for me to try? The Pumpkin Spice scent, yummy! The Whipped Parfait Soaps are $10 for 8oz. 

 The last soap that I have been and still am using is the Midnight Safari with Activated Charcoal and Kaolin Clay. I have been using this sample just for my face, and it has made a SERIOUS difference in my skin! My face is less oily, my acne has improved and well I just love it. I never, ever thought this soap would work as well or improve my skin as much as it has. Not because I don't trust Sarah but because nothing ever works. That is, until now. I love, love it. It has the richest, thickest lather of all the soaps I've tried so far and at only $6, it is $6 less than the cleanser I was using before. You can find it HERE.

Burt's Bees Natural Skin Solutions Sensitive Skin Cleanser & Moisturizer

 

Burt's Bees has been a long time favorite for me. I love their lip balms, and I have always loved the way their Baby washes and lotions smell. So when I got the oppurtunity to try their new Sensitive cleanser and daily moisturizer through BzzAgent I of course jumped on it. 

 As with Burt's Bees other products this cleanser and moisturizer have not let me down. My skin feels really soft and cleansed. Soft and moisturized from the cleanser alone that I almost felt I didn't need the moisturizer. I of course for reviewing sake used it anyway. I actually noticed that my usual redness went away while using this cleanser. Before using Burt's Bees cleanser I had thought that my skin was just naturally red, I never realized that the redness was cause by irritation from the soaps I was using. 

While I think its a great cleanser and moisturizer for those with sensitive,  dry, and normal skin. In the end I stopped using it because unfortunately I have oily acne prone skin and I need something that helps with my acne. If Burt's Bees ever comes out with a Acne Cleanser I will be all over it.

It's That Time of The Month.....August Eco Emi!!!

As usual I have been impatiently awaiting the arrival of my Eco-Emi box since I got my email telling me they shipped it. Thank goodness my wait is never very long. Fortune Cookie Soap with Lavender Essential Oils

 I was really excited to find Fortune Cookie Soap in this last months Eco-Emi. With their awesome array of scents and natural ingredients I could not wait to try this soap. I smells really amazing and has a light shimmer in the soap. I didn't notice any of the shimmer on my skin after the shower. I was hoping that it would make my skin feel soft but honestly my skin felt kind of dry after my shower These would make a great gift or party/shower favors. They can be ordered to come in cute little Chinese takeout boxes. Their prices range from $2.75 to $3.24.  I'm not ready to give up on Fortune Cookie Soaps there are so many different scents, as well as body butters, scrubs, masks, bar soaps, melts,  and really cute bombs that literally look like Gelato and shaved ice. I'm going to continue shopping around the Fortune Cookie website and let you all know how each product goes.
