Cravebox Summer Beauty Limited Edition Box 2012

I being the monthly sample subscription junkie that I am, had of course heard of Cravebox but never subscribed because the products being featured never really peeked my interest. When I saw that they were releasing a Limited Edition Summer Beauty Cravebox, I signed up just for that box.  While I definitely think you get your money's worth, Cravebox's Summer Beauty box completely missed the mark for me. All but one of the products (Puristics Eye Cream) in my personal opinion aren't what comes to mind when I think of beauty products.

A fun, new way to discover products that make life better.

Cravebox is a wildly popular product discovery service that puts crave-worthy products into the hands of our lucky Cravebox Members. Our team of Cravebox Curators scours the earth for the best of the best, and carefully prepares boxes that are delivered to members’ homes. We currently have two types of boxes: Subscription Boxes are automatically shipped to subscribing Members and cost $10 a piece. The program is enormously successful and we sell out all our subscription slots in just a few hours, so at the moment there are no new subscription slots available. We are continually expanding the program however, so we will have more slots opening. Be sure to join us to get updates as soon as they happen! Limited Edition Boxes are our newest offering. Our Cravebox Curators pack up handsome and hefty boxes filled with products, gadgets, doodads and supplies focused around a theme, activity, occasion or hobby that our Members love. Members are notified as soon as each new box is available, and have 3 days to come to the Cravebox website to enter a lottery style drawing for that Cravebox. Winners are notified as soon as the drawing is completed, and receive their Limited Edition box within about two weeks. Limited Edition boxes are available to members for just $10 - $15 each.
Here's a list of the products that were in my Summer Beauty Cravbox:
  • Puristics Intensive Eye Cream 5 oz Approx Value $8.20
  • Garden Bonanika Oatmeal & Peppermint Soap Value $7.00
  • Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub $5.98
  • BIC Soleil Bella Approx Value $2.11
  • ThinkThin Bar Approx Value $2.13
                         Approximate Value: $25.42
                          Paid $15.00

Cravebox has a regular monthly subscription box where they compile a box of what they consider Crave-worthy products, as well as several Limited Edition Boxes that they release monthly. You can sign up for the monthy service here: Join the Monthly Subscription and be notified of the Limited Edition Boxes here: Cravebox Limited Edition Boxes.

August Starbox from Starlooks

**If you sign up, I would love for you to let them know that Kristy's Place Reviews referred you.**

Starbox it is a monthly beauty subscription service, delivering you 3-4 full size Starlooks cosmetic products every month. With Starlooks you never get samples; unlike other monthly beauty subscriptions you will always get nothing but full size products, and it's ALL makeup.

This may be my last month of Starbox and it's safe to say, I'm pretty upset about it. While it's only $15 a month, come September every year I stop making purchases for myself and start saving for my son's birthday(November) and Christmas. I'm so torn over whether I should continue my subscription or drop it until January. I love Starbox so much! In three months I have yet to receive a box that I didn't completely love. I've got two weeks to make up my mind! The cutoff date is the 1st of every month, otherwise you will have to wait until the next month to receive a box. Grrr, is it selfish to want to continue something for myself? It's only $15 right?! Whelp, anyway...Let's get into the August Starbox.

August Starlooks released their first ever Special Edition Starbox. August's Starbox features products that were hand picked by fashion designer Lauren Bradley. The products included were used in Lauren's first Lookbook.

  • Pink Petal Rose Lip Gloss: Super creamy, non-sticky vibrant gloss formula(comparable to the luxurious, moisturizing feel of Chanel lip gloss) is a gorgeous, sheer,  everyday raspberry-pink for the lover of color. With a bit of pearl, and lots of glassy, shiny finish, this gloss is the perfect neutral berry hue for night and day. Retail Value $11 Starlooks isn't lying this is a gorgeous high shine gloss with zero stickiness. This color is a blue hued pink and makes your teeth look super white.
  • 844 Pointed Slant Eyeliner Brush:  This ultra fine, precise liner brush creates the most perfect line for the top of the eyelid. 100% synthetic, Japanese nylon hair allowsthe brush to glide over the lid with tons of flexibility, and no grabbing or gathering of the eyelid during application. Retail Value $15 I have been loving the Starlooks brushes that have been featured in the Starboxes and this is no exception.
  • Sculpture Infinity Cream Liner: Extremely pigmented, cream liner. Perfect with the use of your new 844 Pointed Slant Eyeliner Brush. This color is an illuminating, creamy, youthful, smokey, neutral charcoal. Waterproof and smudge-proof. Retail Value $9 This is a charcoal color but it has flecks of green and gold in it, that stand out depending on the way the light is hitting it.
  • Surprise! Lauren Bradley has included an autographed collectors gift card.  And don't forget in every Starbox there are mystic crystals included.

I have really been enjoying Starbox, the quality of the products has been really amazing, and I'm so glad that I have found it. I love getting nothing but makeup!

If your interested in signing up to receive a monthly subscription of Starbox head to the Starlooks website. **If you sign up, I would love for you to let them know that Kristy's Place Reviews referred you.**

July Starbox from Starlooks

**If you sign up, I would love for you to let them know that Kristy's Place Reviews referred you.**

My July Starbox from Starlooks came in and I couldn't be more excited! If your not familiar with Starbox it is a monthly beauty subscription service, delivering you 3-4 full size Starlooks cosmetic products every month. With Starlooks you never get samples; unlike other monthly beauty subscriptions you will always get nothing but full size products, and it's ALL makeup. This is my second month of receiving Starbox and it is safe to say that it has become my favorite beauty subscription service.  The quality of Starlooks products are really good. The eye shadows and blushes are finely milled and very pigmented. Last months products have made there way into my daily makeup routine and I'm positive that July's products will do the same.

So what was in July's Starbox?
  • Tendergloss Lipstick in Citron-$11: We definitely didn't hold back on the bright colors for this Starbox! This ultra-moisturizing, tinted lipstick has the perfect amount of color application for your long day at the beach. Tangerine is hot for summer this year! Glistening, medium coverage, half-pigment, half-glossy, tendergloss is saturated with gold flecks and includes a natural SPF 15! (This is a color that I never would have chosen for myself. Frankly, I was intimidated by it, but I'm so glad it was in the Starbox because I love it, and it's so flattering on me.)
  • Eyeshadow in Gold Dust-$9: Gold is the color of luxury. Our Shadows feel incredibly satiny and glide over the lid with a beautiful even coverage. Not too yellow, yet not too copper in tone, this shadow is perfect for all over the lid of the eye to add a pop of color to any neutral or glam look. Or, apply as a highlighter to the inside corner of the eye, the bottom lid lash line, or under the brow bone.
  • Blush Compact in Classy-$15: What!??! A FULL SIZED BLUSH. Yes we don't know about you, but we can't finish off any makeup look properly without the perfect highlight for the cheek bone. So, we included our favorite FULL SIZE highlighting blush. Glides over any other color used on the cheek for that incredible reflection and glisten that you see on our Looksbook beach models.
  • Suprise! We know you to take your makeup with you poolside or to the sand, so we've included a gorgeous compact mirror. ALSO: every Starbox comes with a mystic quartz crystal. These crystals attract energy, help maintain focus, and are the ultimate symbol of beauty.
TOTAL VALUE: $35!
Citron Tendergloss, Gold Dust Eyeshadow, Classy Blush

Starbox costs $15+ S/H of $1.98 a month or you can purchase the full year at $170. Find Starlooks on their website: www.starlooks.com (if you sign up for Starbox I would love it if you let them Kristy's Place Reviews referred you) as well as their Facebook page

Glossybox June 2012

It's Glossybox time! Whoohoo! Alright, so that's how I felt before I looked into June's Glossybox. Just like last months box June's box didn't come till July. According to the Glossybox US Facebook page they will be shipping July's boxes the third week in July and not the fourth. Since shipping seems to take an incredibly long time, I'm not all together sure that shipping the third week of the month is going to remedy the issue.

While the products in June's box are all "luxury" brands, they just aren't my cup of tea. With the exception of the cream eyeshadow in black, everything else in the box was hair and body care. Getting mostly hair care and body products is the reason I've canceled every other subscription. I prefer more cosmetics and perfume.

So here's what was in my June box:
  • AHAVA Mineral Botanic Hibiscus & Fig Cream Wash: Full Size $22.00 Approx Value of Sample $3.87  Formulated with rejuvenating Dead Sea minerals and soothing natural moisturizers, this velvety cream wash gives an extra hydration-boost with sweet uplifting scent.
  • FIRST AID BEAUTY Smooth Shaving Cream: Full Size $16.50 Approx Value of Sample $4.86 Smooth Shave Cream is a gentle, non-irritating formula containing everything you need to obtain a close,long-lasting shave. Keep your legs looking smooth and sexy all summer long.
  • OFRA COSMETICS Eye Shadow ICE: Full Size $14.95 Full size included   Dab on this  primer infused, color intensive, creamy eye shadow and stand out in any crowd. Remain beautiful for your long summer adventures.
  • vBEAUTE Lite Up, Buying Time & Eye Never: Full Size Price Vary on Product Approx Value of Samples Lite Up $5.00 Buying Time $2.70 Eye Never $5.67 Give your face the treatment it deserves with this skin care trio including face serum, cream and eye gel.
  • WELLA PROFESSIONALS Enrich Moisturizing Treatment:  Full Size $12.00 Approx Value of Sample $1.99 Create free flowing hair with this lightweight treatment containing silk extract that instantly restores your mane.
  • "Surprise Treat"  PERFUME ORGANIC SAMPLE
    Total Approx Value: $39.04
June's box paid for itself and then some, but it just wasn't for me. Not crazy at all about this box.  Along with shipping issues, I was charged tax this month when I wasn't charged for it the first month. Bringing my total up to $23 and some change rather than the $21 that's advertised. According to Glossybox they have two offices and this month I happened to get service from the CA office and was charged the CA sales tax. IDK. Their response to this payment issue has been confusing. It's only a couple bucks but not everyone gets charged the tax depending on what office handles their subscription. Apparently I wasn't the only customer who found this odd. Since it is still a new company I will give them a pass as they work out all the kinks.

There is no longer a waiting list to sign up and it is $21+ Free Shipping.(note you may or may not be charged sales tax) To sign up for Glossybox head here: www.glossybox.com

June Starbox by Starlooks Review

**If you sign up, I would love for you to let them know that Kristy's Place Reviews referred you.**

Finally a beauty subscription service that ships nothing but makeup! One of my readers tipped me off to a company called Starlooks and their monthly subscription service, Starbox. When I saw that it was nothing but makeup I freaked, this is exactly what I had been looking for.

With the Starbox you are getting 3-4 FULL SIZE handpicked Starlooks products. Starlooks cosmetics are Cruelty, Lead and Emollient Free.  Since I had never heard or used Starlooks cosmetics before, I had no idea what to expect as for the quality of the products. After using them I can tell you the quality is amazing. Colors are all well pigmented, pencil was smooth, eyeshadow is finely milled, and the brush is so soft and had zero fallout.

So let me tell you exactly what was in my June Starlooks shipment:

  • Caricature: Eyeshadow- A super smooth, fine, color-saturated eye shadow. Can be worn as a base or accent color. This has hints of Seafoam green, baby pink and a light smoke that reflect glamorously in the summer sun or party lights! $9.00
  •  Mystic: Diamondline Pencil – This ultra smooth eyeliner is waterproof, and designed to be used on the inside waterline of the eye, as well as an eyeshadow base, and for lining the outside of the top and bottom lashes. $8.00
  • Black: Precision Eye Pen- The sharpest most pigmented, blackest, most brilliant liquid Definer Pen in the industry. Doesn’t dry out quickly, place a perfectly crisp, black line over the lightest eyeshadows without smearing, and is water resistant! $11.00
  •  813: Small Precision Brush-This incredibly soft, tiny brush is meant for the application of eyeshadow to the inside corner of the eye or bottom eyelid, and is also perfect for smudging/blending the eyeliner pencil, after it is applied, to create a “softer, more diffused look.” Use this anytime a small amount of product is to be applied. $15

Total Value of June’s Starbox: $43
I created the look below using all the products in June's Starbox.
  1. Apply Caracature from lash line to crease.
  2. Then apply the DiamondLine in Mystic in a V shape onto the outer corner.
  3. Use the 813 Precision brush to smudge and blend out the Mystic Diamond line. Blending towards center of lid.
  4. Line your tight line using the Black Precision Eye Pen slightly winging out the ends.
  5. Line lower water line with Diamondline in Mystic. Use remaining product on 813 Precision Brush to smudge slightly under lowers lashes.
  6. Apply your favorite mascara and voila a simple look.

At $15 + $1.98 S/H a month you are definitely getting your money’s worth, and minus mascara June’s Starlooks box includes everything you need for a complete eye look. I’m love, love, loving Starbox. Finally, a company heard the call for a subscription box with nothing but makeup and answered it! I cannot wait to see what is in July’s Starbox.

As well as having a monthly the Monthly option, you can subscribe yearly for $170. Find Starlooks on their website: www.starlooks.com as well as their Facebook page

Summer 2012 Beautyfix Review

I was lucky enough to get a review for the Summer Beautyfix shipment, and I am so glad I did because while I loved it before it has gotten so much better. Well, at least it seems that way to me. The last time I reviewed which was last Sept. 2011, Beautyfix offered makeup but there were more skin care products to choose from then cosmetics. This time there were a lot more makeup products mixed in.

Beautyfix a service from the Dermstore offers up to $400 in Beauty products for only $49.99+free shipping. Products are chosen for you by a panel of experts after you take a quick survey.  What sets it apart from other beauty subscription services is that while a panel of experts choose products they think would best suit you and your needs, YOU get to pick from a large list of those products. So you're never disappointed and stuck with products you won't use. Beautyfix only ships seasonally, four times a year. Once signed up you will get billed automatically for each new shipment. You can cancel or suspend your subscription any time you would like with a simple phone call.

So what was in my Beautyfix box this time?

  • Stila: Set & Correct $34
  • Raw Natural Minerals: in Warm Glow $25
  • Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip Plumper: in Milan $25
  • Skindinavia Finishing Spray: $29
  • Bare Ease Prep Kit: $25
  • Batiste Dry Shampoo: $3.99
  • Juice Beauty Oil Free Moisturizer Sample: Approx Value: $14
  • Becca Resurfacing Primer Sample: Approx Value: $15
Total Value: $170.99!
Now that is a value! $170 worth of product for $50 and that doesn't include the value of the cosmetic bag that always comes complimentary with your Beautyfix shipments. I love everything I chose and I cannot wait to try everything out.
To sign up to receive Beautyfix, head to there website: beautyfix.com

*I received a sample shipment of this Summers Beautyfix in order facilitate this review. I was not paid for this review. All opinions are my own and 100% honest*

Petitebox Review

Petitebox is from GlossyBox, which happens to be my new favorite monthly beauty subscription service, so I had a feeling that Petitebox would not disappoint. Petitebox is a monthly subscription service for expectant mothers and babies aged 0-12 months. Just like its sister service all samples are truly deluxe, luxury samples. Each Box includes 4-7 samples.  Glossybox is $25 a month and includes free shipping.
“Products are lovingly curated by our team of experts and designed specifically to your stage of pregnancy (from week 17) or age of your baby (up to 12 months old)”

I’m not sure what the age of the baby my box was made for as it’s not listed on the card. Let’s take a look at what was included in my Petitebox:

  • Satsuma Designs: Bamboo Flannel Wash Clothes and Reusable Wipe Duo Full Price $7.00 From bath time to meal time and in between, Satsuma Designs bamboo flannel wash clothes and wipes are the perfect clean up tool.
  • Beaba Babycook Seasoning Ball: Full Size Priced at $4.95; a silicone ball designed to infuse herbs and spices into baby’s homemade food, allowing for the discovery of new tastes while avoiding pieces in baby’s meal.
  • Under The Nile Egyptian cotton Toy: Full Size $8.00; Perfect toy for little hands to grip and safe for little mouths to chew on. Made and stuffed with the finest 100% Organic Egyptian cotton.
  • The Good Home Company Organic Hand Sanitizer: Full Size $6.00; the perfect companion in your purse or diaper bag. This travel sized Hand Sanitizer is a great way to keep your hands clean and fresh smelling.
  • The Good Home Company Sheet and Clothing Spray: Full Size $12.00; Simply Spray this sheet and clothing spray on your pillow case, sheets, or clothing to release a delightful scent for you to enjoy.
  • Artisan Naturals Luxury Skin and Body Care Soothing Aloe Face Cleanser: Full Size $25.00 for 4fl.oz Approx Sample Value is $6.25 1fl.oz;  a mild face wash with lemon and neroli for all skin types that is toxin free and sulfate free, extra gentle in a travel size package.
  • Aloe Baby Tender Defender: Full Size $16.00 4oz, Approx Value of Sample Unknown; Tender Defender provides a bio-active, nutritive layer to support skin as it heals, acting as a base coat beneath barrier creams when rash is present. Use this multi use travel pack for when you are on the go.
Approx Value of this Petitebox is $44.00

I don’t currently have a small baby but if I did I would definitely be subscribed to Petitebox. As I mentioned before, I receive their sister box the Glossybox and I have yet to be disappointed. Great company that truly gives you more than what you pay for and knows what it means to provide deluxe and luxury samples.  That being said Petitebox is currently not excepting new subscriptions, after their June boxes ship they will be going on "maternity leave" to sort out some shipping issues. It is worth getting on the waiting list.

You can subscribe to their Newsletter to be notified when new subscription spots open up. Head to Petitebox’s Website for more information and to sign up for their newsletter.

Babbabox Review and Giveaway!

I’m always looking for ways to incorporate fun into learning for my 3 year old. So when I learned about Babbabox, I knew I had to try it.  What is it, you ask?

“A subscription box delivered monthly with ALL the physical materials plus know-how content to really engage with your kids. Each month features a new theme-based box filled with activities, knowledge, and experiences that encompass all the ways kids love to learn!”

The theme of the box that my son and myself received is “Gratitude.” There are so many activities included in this box and Babbabox really does include EVERTHING you will need to do and create all the activities. You will not need to go out and purchase anything. In every Babbabox there are items to help children: Create, Explore, Story Tell, and Connect.  In our Babbabox we received.

Create: 3 Gratitude Projects

For Mom/Dad: 2 Satchels of Tea and a Tea Infuser “to share in a moment of Gratitude with someone special”

I first took our Babbabox aside to take pictures for this blog post. Then I sat my son down and let him open the box. I really wish that I would have recorded his reaction to opening the Babbabox because his excitement over everything in the box was awesome and extremely infectious. The first thing he wanted to do was pull out the camera and take pictures. At 3 his ability to get anything in frame is lacking but with a little help he was able to figure it out.  Then it was on to Creating our Serving Tray. What child doesn’t get excited about painting something, especially when it includes getting to paint their hands? We had such a great time! TOGETHER!

We haven’t gotten to the other activities but I know my son is going to love them.  I really appreciate that not only is he learning but the activities are really thought out and engaging. He may not realize that he is learning but he is. That being said I’m not sure how much he is learning about “Gratitude” from the activities but I know that they are made to improve cognitive skills. He will definitely learn something about Giving Thanks from the book that was included.  I like that all the Create items are going to make really great keepsakes.

There are a few options when subscribing. You can subscribe monthly which is $29.99 a month, Annually which is $299.99(2 Free Boxes), And Babbabox is currently offering The Summer Survival Pack which is $89.97 for the first 3 months and $29.99 after that.
